Martin Connaughton/Cardinal Newman
Hi all
My dad is Paddy Moran, he taught PE at Cardinal Newman in Hindley and was also involved in the town rugby teams.
As such, he taught and coached quite a few who went on to play rugby league professionally - Martin Dermott, Martin Crompton, Rocky Turner and more.
He remembers teaching a lad called Martin Connaughton who went on to sign for Wigan so asked me to come on here to see if anyone knows how he went on as it's going back quite a few years! He said he was a class player.
He was at Cardinal Newman for many years and speaks very fondly of his time there.
Thanks

Martin played in one game against Salford in 78/79. I think he got injured, not sure if it was in that game or a A team game' which put a stop to his playing.

Forwarded to Martin. Even though I am sure he will already have been told.

It was a first team game at Salford. I think he damaged his shoulder. I went to watch him. Took a car full from Abram.
